Septerhed gives Sunset Junction a Fresh Coat

Today Septerhed gave Sunset Junction a much needed fresh coat. At the corner where Shepard Fairey's "Heart & Soul" had taken a beating since summer, Septerhed brought some new life to the corner with some vibrant blue and orange hues overlayed with his black line work. The finished mural reads "I never hated anyone as much as I love you!!!".

Enjoy the video of Septerhed's freshly completed mural below.

Ruby Red Slippers on Sunset Blvd.

No, you're not in Oz. This is Silverlake. A street artist hung up a pair of ruby red slippers to glitter above Sunset Blvd at Sunset Junction. The red sequence covered heels couldn't have a better home... outside Hollywood in the thriving gay community of Silverlake.

Elliot Smith Resurrected

The wall between Solutions Music and Malo Restaurant in Silver Lake has become a memorial for the late Elliot Smith. This wall was the site for his album cover "Figure 8". Over the years many people have scrawled their memories and notes to Elliot. The wall then became layered with tags and graffiti.

I believe the people at Malo Restaurant repainted the wall and included a stencil of Elliot (just like the album cover) on August 6 in celebration of his birthday.

Bold Attempt to End All Street Art Forever

"Don't Paint Again" scrawled on switch box in Echo Park. I'm not sure how effective this will be. I took this out the dirty window of an LA Metro bus.

Sand One Lashes Out

Sand One lashes out behind Echo Park tattoo shop, El Clasico. As a former make-up artist, I love the way she makes her lashes. I often give my characters 3-5 lashes that are quick upstrokes, but Sand One gets down on those lashes like a MAC make-up artist. And look at those lucious lips! Love her.

I also saw this mini blue graphic piece on a electrical box. I ran into the shop owner while taking this shop, he was a super nice guy and spoke very highly of Sand One. Check out El Clasico when you're in Echo Park and get some fresh ink.

Buff Monster Ice Cream on Sunset

These Buff Monster wheat pastes just went up in Silver Lake kitty-corner from Akbar. He celebrates summer and his 10th anniversary with ooey-gooey pink neon ice-cream cones.

Seraph & Yem at Work

I had the pleasure of running into Seraph and Yem at work on another mural in the Le Barcito parking lot in Silver Lake. Seraph is an incredible soul that shines through his intricate work that emerges from an organic world and provides insights to futuristic infastructures. Yem is working on some of his characters - one an aggressive cat creature and the other a peaceful gaia-like figure of a woman who has a killer blue buddag ear. I'll be posting pics when the wall is complete.

Silver Lake, Heart & Soul of Los Angeles

A new piece by Shepard Fairey went up yesterday right at the Sunset Junction, the Heart & Soul of Los Angeles. It's part of the Non Toxic Revolution Campaign for Keep a Breast.

A Bad Idea

I love this poster. The quote is simply printed on corrugated plastic and strapped to a lamp post. It reads:

HOW A BAD IDEA STARTS: "THAT LOOKS EASY... I COULD DO THAT."
HOW A GOOD IDEA STARTS: "THAT LOOKS FUN... I SHOULD DO THAT."

Menacing Piece up at Le Barcito

I love this purple people eater that just went up on Sunset in front of Le Barcito. I love that the monster has a little flower is his hair. Butcher staked out the spot a couple weeks back, but I didn't see his tag on this yet. It reads "PLAYME".

Monster in SilverLake

I'm loving this monster taking over Silver Lake. I've seen huge spray line drawings on Effie and also these stickers around on the stairs and newspaper boxes.
