Johnzo West gets down with Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus and Johnzo West
We have alot of musicians in the neighborhood of Silver Lake. I'm fortunate to be friends with one of those very talented musicians, Johnzo West. He recently recorded a cover of Bob Dylan's "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" with Miley Cyrus. Watch Johnzo and Miley in the new music video.

Silver Lake Smoking Area

At the site of new restaurant, Bacon's Bread (from Salt's Cure), there's a smoking area stencil. I'm not sure if it's a commentary on LA's strict smoking laws. It's appropriate.

Street Art Killed the LA Times

Lox Got Killed

Army of One Invades Intelligentsia

This street art piece made of painted wood and children's building blocks is in front of Intelligentsia screwed to a telephone pole. The alphabet blocks spell out "No more war". It also says "Give peace a chance" and "Army of One".

I received this information from the artist shortly after posting this photo today:

Thank You SLSA

WELCOME TO THE REVOLUTION.......

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS CHILD??
THE ARMY OF ONE has crash landed on Los Angeles and will be bringing our peaceful Revolution through art and our creative process to the streets of Los Angeles this week ,starting today to bolster support for our brave women and men who are put into harms way by the insanity of THIS WAR!!!!!
...our factory is prepared for an assault on the senses every nite….. We search the streets for anything we can use for our art , our message, our destiny and our savior..........I am prepared to face authority and condemnation from the new world order,in order to save a child from the streets and ravages of poverty, disease and war, our images are a metaphor for pain and ignorance to a childs plight, the innocence lost, on political corruption, religious vagrants and corporate greed,Army of One may never end war , poverty nor disease thru our grass roots meanderings and art. But we will bring it to the forefront of American Disgrace…….this Cause i have dedicated my rebirth too…….We who run with the night...............We who are given the vision................
We are responsible not to lay down with complacency and mediocrity................
We are the new visionaries
........
Our path is clear……Army of One/jc2
join us............

Thank you Diane Arbus for capturing such a timeless and frightening image and supporting Artists like us Topple the War Machine with our Peaceful revolution , through our art and creative process

Quesadilla Blues

You might the quesadilla blues is going to be a sad story. It's not. It's about some of the most delicious quesadillas in Los Angeles.

If you want some of the best quesadillas in LA, you have to go to the blue corn quesadilla lady in Echo Park. She's right off Sunset Blvd on Echo Park Blvd. to the west most weekdays for lunch. Look for the cart with the rainbow umbrella at the edge of the parking lot behind El Clasico Tattoo.

She makes fresh blue corn tortillas by hand then fills them with cheese and other goodies. Definitely try the Papas con Chorizo (Potato and Mexican sausage). The squash blossom and mushroom are grub too! You can also get a danger dog (LA street hog dog wrapped in bacon). Eat in LA for under $5. Oh yeah.

Disturbing Dat Hoe

This is an extremely creepy sticker set I came across on my way to Echo Park yesterday. Looks like a battered baby with a sticker below that says "Nire raped dat hoe".
