Not just hot air: Project Remember

Help Los Angeles street artist, Leba, with his new project, Project Remember. Reminding us to bring the US troops home from Afganistan, he will release a glowing ballon for each fallen US Solider. Over 1600 hundred ballons will be released in total in remembrance of those lost.

You can help Leba make this happen on Kickstarter. You can even get a print and t-shirt!

Inkling Please!

I really want to get one of these. It's the new Wacom Inkling. You can sketch on any paper, anywhere and save your sketches digitally. You can then transfer the sketches to your computer as images and even vectors. Amazing. Check out the video below.

Smokasaurus

I saw this dinosaur smoking outside Mornings Nights cafe in Silverlake the other day. He must not know about the new clean air law in LA.

LA vs. WAR needs you!

"LA vs. WAR" is back and needs your help on Kickstarter. Check it out, contribute to make a wonderful show and get some amazing art from incredible artists.

Make LA vs. WAR happen on Kickstarter. Only 2 days left!
via Kickstarter:
LA Vs. WAR will mark the 10th anniversary of the September 11 2001 attacks with a massive group art exhibition and event taking place in Downtown Los Angeles from 9/9/11 to 9/11/11 at the Vortex. LA Vs. WAR presents some of today’s most prolific, pro-peace/anti-war, political artists in a multi-media exhibition chronicling the creative responses to the current military conflicts in the Middle East/North Africa/Central Asia, The Global War on Terror, the Drug Wars, and other wars on marginalized peoples. After the September 2011 show, we plan to travel the exhibition as "Vs. WAR" to other cities in the U.S. and abroad in the spirit of peace and creative collaboration.
LA Vs. WAR is part exhibition, part experience. The art show will be curated byYo! Peace, Center for the Study of Political Graphics, Political Gridlock and Ad Hoc Art and will feature a large selection of fine art and limited edition prints and posters. Live art demonstrations and workshops will engage the audience in creative activities ranging from graffiti, t-shirt printing, stenciling, and more. Teach-ins with our grassroots partners will inform and inspire attendees to transform their own lives and communities.

Street Artist Beware of the Skunks

I almost got skunked last night on my photo mission. Street artists, beware when roaming the streets of Silver Lake at night. They're everywhere on the back street and hard to see. You can hear it "ppfffttt" when it's tail goes up. Watch out for raccoons too, they will eat you!

Off with the Hed

I love being visually assaulted, especially by black and white geodesic heads sprinkled with pastel candy coatings. Los Angeles street artist, SEPTERHED, made my eyes hurt so good. His SUBVERSIVE HOLIDAY experience was one of the best deliveries of a street art exhibit I've seen. The walls were scralwed with bold, angular typography and topped off with graphic wolf imagey, "heds"and cheeky statements.

There were many local LA Street Artists on the scene that got down on a "graffiti wall". Lydia Emily, 2wenty and The Status Faction were among the artists at the opening. Septerhed bumped my book and I was lucky enough to be able to score a painting that will be hanging in my house soon.
